CBD vape oil is a fantastic way to get fast relief or a quick lift in mood, compared to oil tinctures, edibles, and pills – which can take up to 2 to 4 hours to take effect. However, not all CBD vape oils and pens are created equal. Know what you’re getting… And use this guide as your hit list for what to know…
es, CBD vape oil is a thing.
With the convenience of discreet (and even disposable) vape pens, you can now vape just about anything: Vitamin B12, herbs like thyme, green tea leaves or lavender… and you can even vape essential oils.
The great thing about taking your CBD via vaping is the immediate uptake and fast relief. Whereas taking a CBD oil tincture, edible or capsule can take 2 to 4 hours for noticeable effect, using a CBD vape oil helps you feel the mood-lifting, pain relieving effects of CBD within minutes.
Whether it’s for stress-relief, muscle tension, to address a bout of anxiety or arthritis, and for a variety of other physical and mental discomforts… by vaping your CBD oil, you may be able to replace traditional pain relievers, including Tylenol, Ibuprofen and Vicodin.
Best of all, with CBD vape oil, you can choose your adventure! Hemp-Derived CBD oil has little-to-no THC, meaning it’s non-psychoactive and can’t get you high. However, if you live in a state or country with legalized recreational or medical cannabis, you can enjoy 1:1, 3:1 or even 10:1 CBD-to-THC blends so that you can find the right experience for you.
For example, several of us here at Heal thy Body love love love to vape 3:1 oils that deliver 33mg of CBD to every 3.3mg of THC.
While every body is different, higher CBD-to-THC ratio oils are known to provide a more clarified, present and mentally-focused experience. Ask a budtender at your favorite local dispensary for a good vaping oil that favors CBD in its cannabinoid profile and let us know what you think!

Vaping CBD Oil Like a Champ: Your Ten-Second Crash Course
First, there is a lot of confusion out there with the lingo around vaping and its potential health benefits. Depending on where you look in stores or online, you’ll see a variety of CBD vaping options, including: CBD vape juice, CBD e-liquids, or a concentrated CBD vape oil.
Unfortunately, depending on who you ask, some brands will say that e-liquid and vape juice are the same thing as a concentrated CBD oil. Others tell you that e-liquids and vape juices have far less actual CBD per mL of liquid than a concentrated vape oil. In the end, you’ll have to do your research. And don’t be afraid to take the extra time to call or email any company to get more information (or talk to a knowledgeable budtender in your local dispensary). The remaining tips cover the main things we always ask before purchasing any CBD vape product…
We wouldn’t recommend it. Vape oils are made specifically for this purpose and are specifically formulated to deliver sublimated viscous liquid as a vapor. Regular CBD oils and tinctures are designed for oral delivery via a dropperful of oil held under the tongue. In other words, such a product is not intended for vaping.“Can I just put my regular CBD oil tincture in my vaporizer?”
Vaping gives you far quicker results, but you would NOT get those results by vaping a tincture. They are not the same – so always ingest/use a product per its instructions.
. CBD oils aren’t always labeled clearly or even accurately. Just because a product says it’s a CBD product, that doesn’t guarantee there’s actually Cannabidiol CBD in it. Also be aware of the milligrams trick: If a vape oil claims to have 250mg – it’s probably saying there’s 250mg of oil. You need to check their third-party lab results to verify the actual CBD content per mL or mg of oil to really know how much CBD you’re getting.
Typically, if you’re buying a marijuana-derived oil from a dispensary, these are well-regulated and the amount of CBD will be clearly listed, along with the amount of THC. However, if you’re buying hemp-derived CBD from an online retailer or even in a health food store, make sure the label states the amount of CBD, not the amount of “CBD oil” as that term is not currently regulated and doesn’t ensure actual CBD content.
. Not all CBD oil is created equal. Not by a long shot. If you live in a state or country that is not yet cannabis-friendly (i.e. legal), then you will need to source hemp-derived CBD, as it has little to know THC and is considered legal in all 50 states as well as federally within the US. Usually referred to as CBD hemp oil, the best vaping oils are:Know your oil
Full-Spectrum instead of CBD isolate. This means that other beneficial phytocannabinoids and terpenes are included from the whole hemp plant. This delivers a more synergistic and potent effect as each cannabinoid works differently with your body’s endocannabinoid system. Many vape oils available at this time are NOT full-spectrum, so it’s okay to go with a vaping oil that only includes CBD – as long as you can verify how much actual CBD is in the product. However, keep an eye out as we expect the majority of CBD products to move towards full-spectrum extracts rather than CBD isolates.
CO2-Extracted instead of ethanol- or butane-extracted (say no to chemicals!) Also pay attention to cutting agents and carrier oils. Most vape oils have vegetable glycerin or propylene glycol.
Third-Party Verified CBD Content (many CBD products outright lie on their labels) – always request lab results verifying the amount of CBD per ml of oil from any company before purchasing.

The benefits of a true CBD product are no joke. The research is overwhelming and the broad spectrum of benefits available through regular use of CBD can improve just about every aspect of life, from the youth and health of your skin… to aging gracefully… to addressing painful or debilitating conditions… to lifting your mood and combatting anxiety or depression, which have traditionally required pharmaceutical drugs with dangerous or unwanted side effects.
But you’ll only receive these benefits from a quality product that contains enough pure CBD (and other cannabinoids if it has a full-spectrum profile). For medical conditions, you will likely need a maximum-strength CBD product with very high concentration of CBD per serving. So take your time to do your research into any product you’re considering and make sure you know how the plant source is grown and processed. Know exactly how much CBD is in each mg or serving of product. And request lab results to verify that what is on the label is true.
While this takes extra time and you’ll have to fight that urge for instant gratification, it’s worth it. In fact, a study conducted in late 2016 found that almost 70% of CBD products sold online mislabeled or misrepresented the actual amount of CBD present. The study was led by Marcel Bonn-Miller, of the University of Pennsylvania, and included researchers from the Veterans Affairs San Diego Health Care System, RTI International, Americans for Safe Access, and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
. Select a vape pen you like to keep handy, and a vape oil whose flavor you like. Taking just 30 to 50mg of CBD a day can truly improve the nature of your day! Depending on the strength and CBD concentration in your vape oil, just a few puffs a day can deliver a host of benefits. Most importantly, vaping allows you to immediately address pain, anxiety, and other concerns. Just as you may have kept a few pain killers in your wallet or purse, you can now keep a CBD vape pen handy.Make it a priority, and keep it handy
